The Discovery Tech team at Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist II to build and optimize critical services for marketing and merchandising using machine learning models. The role focuses on developing data-driven, scalable ML solutions for product recommendation to enhance customer experience and enable intelligent marketing campaigns.

What you'd actually do

  1. creating and building critical services that automatically generate, target, and optimize Amazon’s cross-category marketing and merchandising
  2. Through the enablement of intelligent marketing campaigns that leverage machine-learning models, you will help to deliver the best possible shopping experience for Amazon’s customers all over the globe.
  3. Your analytical abilities, business understanding, and technical savvy will be used to identify specific and actionable opportunities to solve existing business problems and look around corners for future opportunities.
  4. design, development, testing, and deployment of data-driven and highly scalable machine learning solutions in product recommendation.

Skills

Required

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 1+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application

Nice to have

  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  • Experience with generative deep learning models applicable to the creation of synthetic humans like CNNs, GANs, VAEs and NF
  • Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
  • Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences
