This role involves conducting statistical and econometric analysis on policy-related topics for Uber, partnering with regional policy teams to develop evidence-based positions and support advocacy efforts, and collaborating with Product, Legal, and Operations. The ideal candidate has a quantitative background (Economics or similar), experience with SQL, Python, or R, and strong analytical and communication skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct careful statistical and econometric analysis of regulations, risks, and opportunities—on topics relating to drivers and courier pay rules, consumer pricing, government-mandates (e.g., taxes, insurance, fees), autonomous vehicles, and other marketplace issues.
  2. Partner with regional policy teams to develop evidence-based policy positions and to support advocacy efforts.
  3. Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Operations to align business concerns with policy perspectives.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Economics or another quantitative field
  • Minimum 1 year of quantitative research or data science experience
  • Strong data skills and experience with SQL, Python, or R
  • Ability to work independently and execute analyses with minimal oversight
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
