As we advance our data platform and engineering capabilities, we are seeking an Architect – Data Platform and Engineering to lead initiatives in data modeling, governance, automation, and AI enablement, with a focus on solving challenges in unstructured data and enhancing metadata and catalog integration.
Reporting to the Head of Data Platform and Engineering, this role combines strategic vision with hands-on technical implementation to deliver scalable solutions. The architect will play a lead role in integrating SaaS AI offerings and an internal GPT wrapper, building governance frameworks that leverage AI, and partnering with data engineers, SREs, and cross-functional teams, including business intelligence, data science, and digital organizations.
What You’ll Do:
- Define and implement the architecture for metadata management, data cataloging, and AI-driven governance frameworks, focusing on unstructured and semi-structured data.
- Architect scalable solutions across multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and modern data technologies, including Snowflake, DBT, Databricks, and Fivetran.
- Develop automation solutions and optimize SDLC processes for data workflows, including building CI/CD pipelines and streamlining engineering operations.
- Drive integration of AI capabilities into governance processes, leveraging models to tag, classify, and monitor data for compliance and usability.
- Design unstructured data strategies that address challenges in scalability, security, and dynamic governance.
- Collaborate with data engineers, SREs, business intelligence, and data science teams to align architecture solutions with business goals and organizational strategies.
- Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge SaaS AI offerings and internal solutions, ensuring interoperability with existing data systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure high performance and reliability across the data platform.
What You’ll Bring:
- Expertise in logical data modeling, metadata management, and scalable architecture for structured and unstructured data.
- Advanced experience with data governance frameworks, particularly in deploying automated governance for unstructured datasets.
- Hands-on experience with modern data stack technologies (Snowflake, dbt, Databricks, Fivetran) and multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Operational knowledge of AI tools and frameworks, such as GPT-based solutions, with experience integrating AI into pipelines and governance workflows.
- Proven ability to architect scalable automation solutions and optimize SDLC processes for agility and reliability.
- Track record of implementing unstructured data strategies, solving challenges around governance, scalability, and compliance.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in technical roles, with significant exposure to data platform architecture and solution delivery.
- 10+ years of combined experience in software engineering and data architecture.
- Strong proficiency in modern data tools (Snowflake, dbt, Databricks, Fivetran) and multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- Experience deploying and operationalizing AI-driven solutions and frameworks across enterprise ecosystems.
- Expertise in designing data governance for unstructured data and integrating AI for metadata and compliance purposes.
