Asic Architect

Cerebras Cerebras · Semiconductors · Headquarters +1 · Silicon

This role is for an ASIC Architect at Cerebras, a company that builds large AI chips. The architect will translate high-level architecture specifications into micro-architecture requirements, perform performance and power trade-offs, and identify hardware acceleration opportunities for AI workloads. While the company's product is AI-focused and used for AI training and inference, the role itself is in hardware architecture and performance modeling, not direct AI/ML model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Translate high level architecture spec to micro-architecture feature requirements
  2. Bring up new features in the performance/power model
  3. Perform comprehensive PPA trade-offs for new architectural features
  4. Extract insights for new features and micro-architecture power efficiency
  5. Profile workloads, identify bottlenecks and project competition performance for benchmarking

Skills

Required

  • Masters/PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience across performance analysis and modeling across GPUs, CPUs or accelerator products
  • Strong background in computer architecture and key high level architectural trade-offs
  • Comfortable standing up new performance models from scratch in Python or similar analytical environments
  • Exposure to micro-code (kernel) performance bottlenecks and optimization techniques

Nice to have

  • Good understanding of how high-level workloads map to underlying micro-architecture is desired
  • Understanding of basic ML workload profiling techniques and model network architecture is preferred
