Assembler Quality Inspector - Cmm (1st Shift)

This role is for an Assembler Quality Inspector at Caterpillar, focusing on auditing and inspecting parts using GD&T, CMM, and precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications. It requires experience in a high-volume precision manufacturing environment and involves collaboration with teams to meet production schedules and support quality initiatives.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive Incoming Quality Assurance initiatives by using your knowledge of GD&T, CMM, and precision measuring instruments to audit and inspect purchased and manufactured parts for conformance to specifications inbound.
  2. Inspect each piece to ensure alignment with design records, engineering standards, and other non-print requirements, you ensure quality is maintained and any defects are identified, addressed, and documented.
  3. Use your skills in collaboration and coordination as you work with teams to schedule resources and prioritize work in order to meet production schedules.
  4. Support team People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost initiatives and support Continuous Improvement initiatives through regular use of the CI card process.
  5. Audit and inspect purchased parts, assemblies, internally manufactured products and other materials for conformance to design records, engineering standards and non-print requirements, using CMM and precision measuring instruments and devices.

Skills

Required

  • Resume or complete work history required
  • 3 years of inspection related experience in an assembly/fabrication manufacturing environment (in combination)
  • Prior CMM Experience: Example: PC-DMIS, Polyworks, Metrosoft, Verisurf, PowerInspect, Calypso
  • Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawing
  • Experience using inspection measuring tools

Nice to have

  • Advanced SAP, Microsoft products, and AQE
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and 1E Specs
  • Experience with calibrating and using torque tools, mechanical tools, inspection hand tools, surface plates, gage blocks, and other setup tools
  • Experience troubleshooting and rework in production manufacturing positions such as paint, fabrications or assembly
  • Utilizing computers for production transactions and experience with Windows, SAP, Microsoft products, and AQE
  • Heavy crane equipment
  • 1 years’ experience of Paving Products
