Assembly and Test Specialist for Caterpillar's East Peoria Undercarriage division, responsible for routine assembly, testing, reworking, and repairing of machine components and final drive assemblies. The role involves operating test machines, preparing products for shipping, performing salvage operations, and potentially operating remote control cranes. Training is provided for applicants with a strong work ethic. Physical requirements include lifting, working at heights, and operating various machinery.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assemble, test, rework and repair machine components
  2. Operate test machines to test final drive assemblies
  3. Prepare prime products and attachments for shipping
  4. Performs required salvage operations in assembly areas as necessary
  5. Disassemble and reassemble complex assemblies to repair or replace damaged component parts.

Skills

Required

  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds individually, or up to 70 pounds as a team lift
  • Work at heights of up to 30 feet from the ground
  • Push/pull product weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 10-15 minutes
  • Climb on and off order picker, reach truck and/or sit-down forklifts multiple times per day
  • Walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes
  • Stand up to 8+ hours per day
  • Climb up and down ladders of 6 feet with handrails
  • Conducts daily maintenance and keeps track of safety logs on equipment
  • Inspects working environment to promote safe work area
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment required or recommended for task at hand
  • Speak up if safety concerns are encountered
  • Take personal accountability for safety
  • Knowledge of 5S Housekeeping concepts
  • Follows standard manufacturing processes
  • Basic understanding of computers to perform simple computer tasks and operations
  • Uses/operates and maintains complex tools and machinery
  • Understands how to use, operate, and maintain various equipment, tools, and machinery
