Boeing is seeking an Assembly Mechanic to assemble, install, and test structural components and systems according to engineering specifications and industry standards. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembling structural components using various tools, installing components into production aircraft, and testing assembled systems. The role requires experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes, sheet metal assemblies, and using hand tools. Experience with electrical assembly installation and reading blueprints is preferred. The position is onsite and requires adherence to safety protocols.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements for structural components.
  2. Assemble structural components, including beams, frames, panels, brackets, and other structural elements, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  3. Assemble precision assemblies, set up and operate ream fixtures to drill, ream, countersink, spot face, hone and bore for mating major assemblies.
  4. Install press fit bushings and force fit bushings. File, fit, hone, ream, drill, tap, saw, burr and adjust.
  5. Assemble a variety of production aircraft and spacecraft parts and install aircraft equipment, support equipment or power plant equipment.

Skills

Required

  • Experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes and procedures
  • Experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation
  • Experience in electrical assembly installation
  • Experience in assembly or mechanical work
  • Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
