Boeing is seeking aspiring mechanics for an Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship program in St. Louis. The program offers three pathways: Structures, Electrical, and Mechanical, each involving 15 weeks of intensive training. Apprentices will learn to interpret drawings, follow work instructions, and perform various assembly tasks. This is a registered apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labor, providing formal learning, on-the-job experience, and mentorship, leading to a nationally-recognized credential. The role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and a strong work ethic, with opportunities to convert to a union-represented Assembly Mechanic position.

What you'd actually do

  1. interpreting model-based drawings and blueprints
  2. following work instructions
  3. Sealant application, fastener layout, drilling, countersinking, fastener installation and removal, trimming of parts
  4. Wire bundle routing, wire stripping, terminating, wire bundle splicing, solder sleeves, connector build-up, bundle dressing, Fiber optics, RF cable handling, and bonding and grounding of parts
  5. torquing, installing safetying devices, rigging, installation of fluid lines, component installation

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Understanding of intermediate math
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work any shift based on the needs of the operation

Nice to have

  • Experience using basic precision measuring tools
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
