Assembly Mechanic-Composites role at Boeing Defense, Space and Security focusing on the Fabrication Composites team. Responsibilities include assembling precision assemblies, operating machinery, installing components, and working with various tools and materials. Requires 1+ years of experience with work instructions, blueprints, and hand tools. Experience with composites, chemicals, inspection, and precision measuring tools is preferred. This is an hourly position governed by a collective bargaining agreement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assemble precision assemblies, set up and operate ream fixtures to drill, ream, countersink, spot face, hone and bore for mating major assemblies.
  2. Setup and operate shot peen equipment and accessories for stress relieving assemblies as required.
  3. Install press fit bushings and force fit bushings. File, fit, hone, ream, drill, tap, saw, burr and adjust.
  4. Assemble a variety of production aircraft and spacecraft parts and install aircraft equipment, support equipment or power plant equipment.
  5. Install, operationally check out, adjust, rig and pressure check systems. Perform bench and assembly line operational check out, troubleshooting, repair and adjustment of electrical and electronic systems, lighting circuits, power plant systems, wing fold circuits, missile launch racks, aircraft instrumentation, provide flight test instrumentation, fire wiring system, fuel system.

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions
  • reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
  • 1+ years of experience with various types of hand held power tools

Nice to have

  • Experience working with composites and/or composite manufacturing
  • Experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials
  • Experience in the inspection of parts, components, assemblies, or units
  • Experience with precision measuring tools
