Boeing is seeking an Assembly Mechanic-Structures to assemble, install, and test structural components for aircraft and spacecraft. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, using hand and power tools for assembly, installing components, testing systems, and troubleshooting malfunctions. The role requires experience with aircraft structural fabrication and sheet metal assembly.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements for structural components.
  2. Assemble structural components, including beams, frames, panels, brackets, and other structural elements, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  3. Assemble precision assemblies, set up and operate ream fixtures to drill, ream, countersink, spot face, hone and bore for mating major assemblies.
  4. Install press fit bushings and force fit bushings. File, fit, hone, ream, drill, tap, saw, burr and adjust.
  5. Assemble a variety of production aircraft and spacecraft parts and install aircraft equipment, support equipment or power plant equipment.

Skills

Required

  • Experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes and procedures
  • Experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation

Nice to have

  • Aircraft assembly experience
  • Experience in aerospace systems or structures
  • Experience in reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience working with hand and power tools such as drills, sanders and saws
