Associate CAD Designer for Disney Live Entertainment, focusing on creating complex drawing solutions, 3D visualizations, and bid packages for live show entertainment products using software like Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and 3ds Max. This role supports the design team with mechanical and schematic design, maintains drafting standards, and assists in the presentation process.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deliver the design intent through the effective execution of the creative process
  2. Support the entire design team with a mechanical approach and schematic design to realize their vision
  3. Develop and maintain drafting standards for Walt Disney Entertainment in coordination with other Walt Disney Company business units
  4. Generate and modify all types of computer drafting and imaging (ground plans, detail drawings, etc.), graphics, and 3D views of Walt Disney World properties using Autodesk Revit
  5. Familiarity with AutoCAD 2d and 3d, 3ds Max, SolidWorks, or other 3d modeling/drafting software

Skills

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Entertainment Industry working in show development and operation of live shows, drafting schematics, floor plans, three-dimensional images
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Computer Aided Design
  • Excellent working knowledge of current technology and industry standards for a wide variety of theatrical design (audio, video, broadcast, effects, lighting, and control systems, scenery, and facilities construction methodology) as applied to live show and facility systems (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of the design development process
  • Proven ability to generate schematic design documentation in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to support the creative process by collaborating with other Designers, Directors, Writers, and Producers
  • Proven ability to deliver on a project’s established scope, schedule, and budget
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to express creative ideas and problem solve
  • General computer skills, including basic Microsoft Office products and industry-specific software
  • Ability to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, holidays - including occasional travel

Nice to have

  • Computer animation and video production experience
  • 3 years of experience working with Disney Live Entertainment
  • Unreal Engine/VR previsualization experience
  • College degree or equivalent experience in Theatrical, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering discipline
