Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal based in Gurugram, India. This role supports AWS operations by blending legal expertise with company secretarial duties, collaborating with various teams to provide strategic legal guidance, maintain corporate governance, oversee regulatory filings, and ensure compliance with Indian statutes. Requires strong corporate law and company secretarial skills in India, with experience in contracting and legal compliance review. Basic qualifications include 3+ years of legal experience, LL.B., and ACS membership. Preferred qualifications include experience in a high-growth tech company and knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, IP, competition, and privacy.

What you'd actually do

  1. play a pivotal role in supporting AWS's operations in India, seamlessly blending legal expertise with company secretarial duties.
  2. collaborate closely with sales, marketing, product, and cross-functional teams to provide strategic legal guidance.
  3. be responsible for maintaining proper corporate governance, overseeing regulatory filings, managing board meetings and resolutions, and ensuring compliance with various Indian statutes including the Companies Act and other applicable laws.
  4. requires a strong grasp of both corporate law and company secretarial duties in India, helping AWS effectively manage its legal and compliance obligations.

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of legal experience
  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
  • Experience in contracting and legal compliance review
  • Experience within a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department, with responsibility for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating the legal terms of a broad range of commercial contracts
  • LL.B. (undergraduate law degree) from a recognized Indian university
  • Associate Membership (ACS) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), along with a current valid membership
  • Experience in interpreting and applying relevant Indian laws and regulations in a business context

Nice to have

  • Experience working within a high-growth, technology company
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
  • Understanding of intellectual property, competition and privacy issues.
