Associate Data and Cost Modeling Analyst - Government Estimating

This role involves developing AI-powered estimating tools and cost models, working with unstructured data, and leveraging LLMs with RAG for data analysis. The candidate will build analytical solutions, process text data, and implement AI/ML methods like neural networks and decision trees for estimating.

What you'd actually do

  1. Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) to process and analyze text data.
  2. Implement methods such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve upon the performance of LLMs
  3. Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, such as neural networks, classifiers, and decision trees, specifically, to power data analysis and solutions for estimating
  4. Code, test, and maintain data tools and analytical models
  5. Support in the design of parametric cost models, dashboards, metrics and reports utilizing standard technologies and statistical computation methodologies that support cost analysis objectives

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields)
  • Experience with data modeling tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Spotfire, PySpark, RStudio, Databricks, Dataiku, Airflow, Streamsets, Tableau), data modeling techniques, and/or data normalization
  • 1+ years of experience in designing and implementing Natural Language Processing (NLP) models using machine learning techniques including neural networks, deep learning and transformer architectures

Nice to have

  • Proven experience analyzing large datasets and presenting actionable insights to leadership
  • Experience with statistical analysis and advanced methods (probability theory/distribution, multivariate analysis, parametric/non-parametric models, algorithmic computational methods, etc.)
  • Proficiency with statistical software, programming languages, and databases
  • Experience with Application Programming Interface (API) design and application
  • Experience with AI concepts / Machine Learning (ML): particularly LLMs (including prompt engineering). Natural Language Processing (NLP), clustering, optimization, and applications in time series analysis, stochastic models, and data mining
  • Strong technical data analysis background and defense industry experience
