This role is an Associate DevOps Analyst position within Amazon Web Services (AWS) Region Services team in Sydney, Australia. The primary focus is on supporting and operating AWS services in highly secure, scalable environments, particularly for sensitive workloads. Responsibilities include defining, building, owning, and running services, solving problems in massive-scale areas, learning to build and operate distributed systems, and building/influencing tools for internal services. The role involves supporting activities for these services, working with development teams, driving issues to resolution, understanding business logic and architecture, creating and improving support documentation, performing code builds and deployments, and interpreting metrics. The team provides 'hands on keyboard' support by deploying changes, monitoring results, and reporting issues. Basic qualifications include experience with Linux/Unix, production support procedures, and troubleshooting. Preferred qualifications include CI/CD, networking fundamentals, scripting, and documentation tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define, build, own, and run services in high growth environments
  2. Solve unique and first-order problems in massive-scale areas such as compute services, DynamoDB/NoSQL databases, Glacier, S3 data lakes and many other AWS Services
  3. Learn how to build and operate distributed systems at massive scale
  4. Build and influence the tools and utilities that are part of the AWS fleet running our internal services
  5. own supporting activities for these services, and regularly work with development teams to establish and improve service support

Skills

Required

  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems

Nice to have

  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (bash, python, etc.)
  • Experience using tools to create, manage, and publish documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
