Associate Director, Portfolio Resourcing at Merck, responsible for managing relationships with functional areas regarding project study costs and resource forecasting for clinical trial execution. This role involves collaborating across multiple functions to identify, establish, validate, and manage resource demand, ensuring logic checks on cost estimates and resource forecasts, and supporting governance meetings. Key activities include managing global headcount, capacity, and resource planning, developing and maintaining resource algorithms in tools like Planisware, analyzing time data, and assessing existing resource planning processes for improvements. The role requires a deep understanding of Clinical Development, Operations, and Resourcing, with proven project/resource management experience and familiarity with resource planning tools, particularly Planisware.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage Global Clinical Development (GCD), and as requested, Global Clinical Supply (GCS), and Early Development, global headcount, capacity, and resource planning in support of clinical trial execution, based on our Company's authorized and projected Book of Business (BoB).
  2. Ensure logic checks are applied to the project cost estimates and/or resource forecast demand prior to issuance to the functional areas for review and approval.
  3. Support Late Development Review Committee (LDRC) and other governance meetings by providing baseline and incremental resource demand estimates. Post-meeting, communicate the approvals to appropriate functional management.
  4. Review and cascade time reporting compliance reports and analyze time data as a source to validate algorithms/single equation templates e.g., project target vs. project actual %.
  5. Develop, manage, and maintain function-level, role specific resource algorithms within Planisware and other supporting tools in order to perform monthly resource forecast analyses, develop assumptive scenarios and identify resource mitigation recommendations.
