Associate Director, Strategy and Operations for the Discovery Technologies and Molecular Pharmacology (DTMP) Organization at Johnson & Johnson. This role focuses on functional leadership and operational support to enhance efficiency and drive scientific innovation. Responsibilities include managing functional resources (costs, capex, headcount), optimizing efficiencies with CROs and suppliers, managing partnerships, driving process improvements, contributing to financial planning, supporting leadership meetings and communications, developing strategies, and supporting recruitment and talent processes. Requires a Bachelor's degree, 10+ years of experience in pharma R&D lab sciences and operations, knowledge of discovery sciences, strong organizational and data management skills, experience in complex organizations, external partnerships, change management, technology assessment, and program/project/financial management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage Functional Resources to Target (Operational Costs, Capex, Headcount)
  2. Optimize functional efficiencies across CROs, contractors, and lab supplies through contracting oversight & procurement partnership
  3. Manage DTMP partnerships and collaborations in conjunction with Alliance Management
  4. Drive strategic and process operational improvement initiatives on behalf of DTMP
  5. Contribute DTMP inputs to Therapeutics Discovery financial planning and forecasting cycles

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years of experience in laboratory sciences and operations in pharma R&D
  • Knowledge of Discovery sciences and business
  • Strong organizational skills related to data management
  • Demonstrated success at developing highly collaborative and effective relationships in complex, highly matrixed organization
  • Ability to present and communicate to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience and success with external partnerships
  • Change management experience
  • Experience in assessing technology, external environment & R&D process requirements to successfully drive operational productivity, strategy optimization, process improvements and efficiencies
