Associate Electrical R&d Test Engineer

This role is for an Associate Electrical R&D Test Engineer focused on supporting the development and testing of electro-mechanical systems for autonomous vehicles. The engineer will assist in various stages of the R&D process, including design, building, testing, and data analysis, applying fundamental engineering principles.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist in understanding the technical requirements, problems, or client briefs and support development of solutions that satisfy the requirements.
  2. Support engineering, design, and prototype development of electro-mechanical systems and software for autonomous vehicles and related devices and subsystems.
  3. Apply fundamental engineering principles, best practices, and analysis in areas including mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software under guidance of senior engineers.
  4. Assist in conducting applied research, documenting findings, and presenting results.
  5. Support development of design documents for parts, sub-systems, and final integrated systems.

Skills

Required

  • BS in electrical engineering, robotics engineering, mechatronics engineering, or similar
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience
  • Foundational understanding of engineering fundamentals, best practices, and analysis methods
  • Basic experience operating, maintaining, diagnosing, testing, or repairing electrical or electro-mechanical systems
  • Ability to work in collaborative team environments and follow technical direction
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on R&D environment

Nice to have

  • Exposure to power calculations, measurement, and low voltage systems
  • Familiarity with electrical schematic development and usage
  • Exposure to SPICE-based circuit simulations or equivalent
  • Exposure to PCB design and development
  • Familiarity with networking concepts: ethernet, CAN, serial
  • Exposure to sensors and data acquisition systems
  • Basic software skills (Python, C/C++, Linux, or similar)
  • Interest or experience in autonomous vehicle systems
  • Exposure to robotics, controls, or embedded systems
  • Experience working in laboratory or prototyping environments
  • Exposure to generating schematics, bill of materials, or work instructions
  • CAD modeling experience
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering simulation tools
