This role is for a Tooling Engineer at Northrop Grumman, focusing on the design, fabrication, and implementation of tooling for aerospace composite part manufacturing. The engineer will manage tooling projects from concept to completion, interact with various teams, and ensure tooling meets production quality and safety standards. The role involves CAD modeling, stress analysis, and vendor management. It is open to Associate (Level 1) and Engineer (Level 2) levels, requiring a STEM degree and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provides disposition for discrepant tooling
  2. Supervises and supports critical production builds involving technical tooling processes
  3. Provides communication between A-shift and B-shift operations to support continuous movement of production critical tasks
  4. Supports metrology, tooling transportation and tooling maintenance efforts to facilitate program execution
  5. Supports the tool design group with off-load design projects and tasks which include 3D modeling, 2D drafting and checking

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Experience with project management
  • Communication skills
  • Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts
  • Experience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machining
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems
  • Experience with creating free-body-diagrams and analyzing tooling for allowable stress and fatigue

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
