This role is for an Associate General Counsel at Uber, focusing on Autonomous Mobility & Delivery. The position involves providing legal leadership and strategic business partnership for product development, commercial transactions, IP, data, regulatory and safety matters, investment transactions, and government relations related to autonomous vehicles and eVTOLs. The role requires managing a team of lawyers and overseeing commercial deals, establishing global standards for product and safety counseling, and preparing regulatory pathways for AV commercialization. It is a legal role within an AI-adjacent company, but the core function is not AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Operate as a legal leader and strategic business partner, shaping outcomes and counseling large, cross-functional teams in the following: Product Development & Commercialization, Complex Commercial Transactions (US & International), IP and Data Transactions, AV Regulatory & Safety matters, Investment Transactions/M&A, Government Relations & Policy (Federal & State)
  2. Provide oversight and direction to to a team of lawyers across multiple practice disciplines
  3. Manage commercial deals end-to-end (from deal strategy to post-deal operationalization) with cross-functional input and collaboration across a wide variety of contracting structures: master framework, production, sales and services agreements, licensing, terms and conditions and other policies governing the use of Uber products and services, all with a full-view integration of strategy, risk and legal controls
  4. Establish standards for product and safety counseling that can scale globally, for a product that is safety-first.
  5. Prepare the regulatory pathways for AV commercialization in US and global environments, in conjunction with a world-class Policy team at Uber

Skills

Required

  • Minimum of 12+ years of commercial legal experience in private practice and/or in-house
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
