Associate Machine Design Mechanical Engineer

Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · Berkeley, MO

Mechanical Engineer focused on designing, integrating, and troubleshooting automated ultrasonic scanning systems for aerospace applications. Involves CAD, mechanical components, and system-level integration.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs and integrates mechanical components for complex automated factory inspection systems, including machine structural pieces, probe mounting/adjustment mechanisms, drive systems (motor, gearboxes, linear bearings), cable handling, water containment, part fixturing and safety systems utilizing variety of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, EDM) and materials (metals, plastics, composites)
  2. Ensure designs meet safety standards (functional safety) and regulatory requirements
  3. Create, interpret and modify drawings used for manufacture of mechanical machine components
  4. Troubleshoots complex electrical-mechanical systems in multi-disciplinary integration environments
  5. Routinely travels to customer sites across US and international to support system-level installation, integration, commissioning, debugging, and sustainment activities
