Manufacturing Engineer role at Northrop Grumman supporting production lines, troubleshooting issues, and developing/improving manufacturing processes. Requires a Bachelor's degree and potentially 1+ years of experience, with a Secret clearance required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work closely with manufacturing personnel to tackle production issues in hand and machine-aided layup, automated fiber placement, autoclave cure, CNC and water jet machining, and nondestructive inspection
  2. Develop processes by studying requirements; research, design, modify, and test production/deployment methods and equipment
  3. Collaborates with Design Engineering on design to ensure practical manufacturing and fabrication solutions
  4. Maintain and distribute daily shift issue logs, documenting both resolved and pending equipment/production issues for enhanced communication and transfers of information between shifts
  5. Author, modify, and audit shop floor procedures and electronic work instructions (EWIs)

Skills

Required

  • Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)

Nice to have

  • Active U.S. Government Clearance
  • Active Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Engineering degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of composite hand layup, fiber placement, bonding, and/or curing
  • Knowledge of composite machining using CNCs and/or water jets
  • Experience with a CPLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system
  • Experience using NX or similar CAD software
  • Experience using SAP and MES or similar
  • Demonstrated understanding of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
  • Experience using RCCA tools such as Five Why, Pareto, fishbone, etc.
  • Experience drafting, maintaining, and modifying work instructions and/or process specifications
