Boeing is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their PAC-3 Gimbal Assembly IPT in Huntsville, AL. The role involves ensuring the design and manufacturing of the Gimbal meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and defining the gimbal's architecture and interfaces. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or science field and experience in system engineering, particularly with gimbal assemblies for missile seekers or similar precision tracking systems. A US Security Clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications of the design and development of the Gimbal subsystem for the PAC-3 missile seeker
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to integrate the power assembly into the overall missile seeker system
  3. Define and document the gimbal's architecture, interfaces, and operational characteristics
  4. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines in the design and implementation of the gimble assembly
  5. Designs or develops, maintains, and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience in design and development of gimbal assemblies for missile seekers or similar precision tracking systems
  • System engineering experience (2+ years) including architecture and interface development and definition and requirement derivation
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to missile seeker systems

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, control systems, and electro-optical technologies relevant to gimbal assemblies
  • Proficiency in using engineering software tools for modeling, simulation, and analysis (e.g., CAD, FEA, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques for precision mechanical components
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Experience mentoring early career engineers
