This role provides legal and regulatory expertise on AI law, content, and consumer protection, advising product teams on compliance, mitigating risk, and engaging with regulators globally.

What you'd actually do

  1. Interpreting laws and other compliance obligations into requirements for Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
  2. Providing legal advice on compliance programs and policies to help mitigate risk.
  3. Managing government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on compliance readiness efforts.

Skills

Required

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • 3 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or corporate compliance, including managing regulatory risk.

Nice to have

  • Experience in engaging with regulators, including State attorneys general, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and global digital media, content, or consumer protection authorities.
  • Experience with laws/regulations governing content moderation, secondary/intermediary liability, notice-and-takedown procedures, consumer protection, or related areas of law, including advising on section 230, free speech protections, the Communications Decency Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, EU Digital Services Act, UK and Australia Online Safety Acts, and online child protection laws.
  • Experience advising on laws/regulations governing AI models and systems, like the EU AI Act, US state legislation, executive orders and related global legislation.
