Associate Researcher, Design and Manufacturing

Autodesk · Enterprise · Toronto, ON +1

Associate Researcher focused on applied research in design and manufacturing, bridging digital and physical worlds. This role involves designing and executing physical experiments, building data pipelines from sensor/equipment data, and developing/deploying ML models on edge devices in factory environments. It requires hands-on work with manufacturing equipment and applying CS/data science methodology.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, instrument, and execute physical experiments in manufacturing environments to generate structured, high-quality datasets
  2. Develop data acquisition and processing pipelines for sensor data, machine telemetry, images, and other physical-world signals
  3. Train, optimize, and deploy machine learning models on edge computing platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, industrial PLCs) in manufacturing settings
  4. Collaborate with manufacturing partners and internal research teams to identify high-impact problems and translate them into well-scoped experiments
  5. Analyze experimental results and communicate findings to researchers, engineers, and leadership through clear visualizations and written reports
