What you'd actually do

  1. Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver quality care while minimizing stress and discomfort of patients.
  2. Explain physical examination findings and communicate a diagnosis of the pet’s condition; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client.
  3. Educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products.
  4. Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all logs are kept up to date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.
  5. Staying current with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend continuing education meetings.

Skills

Required

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD)
  • Active State license in good standing, DEA license and other state credentials as required
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience in general medicine and surgery; residency or internship trained
  • Multi-task with a high degree of integrity and accountability.
  • Outstanding listening and problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment.

Nice to have

  • 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred
  • Is passionate about helping people and pets with compassion and excellent customer service focus.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a face paced, self-starter environment.
