This role provides in-house legal services for Disney Consumer Products in Greater China, focusing on licensing, marketing, business operations, and retail collaborations. It requires strong legal skills, commercial judgment, and knowledge of Chinese eCommerce, retail, commercial, and intellectual property laws. The attorney will draft and negotiate legal documents, advise internal clients, and stay updated on legal developments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Draft, negotiate and provide advice on various types of legal documents, including licensing and commercial agreements.
  2. Provide strategic legal support and advice to internal clients and cross-functional stakeholders to support the growth and management of the business.
  3. Exercise independent legal judgment on key initiatives, provide analysis and recommendation for senior lawyers and business stakeholders and flag key matters for escalation as appropriate.
  4. Support company response to local authorities.
  5. Coordination and collaboration with other regional colleagues and external counsels.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a top-tier law firm.
  • Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, legal research and communication skills, including attention to detail, as well as the ability to solve problems in an efficient, business-friendly manner in time-pressured situations.
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise creative solutions and strategies for resolution.
  • Ability to anticipate and understand risks and impacts contractual provisions and agreements may have on a client’s business.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and commitment to professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Willingness to take “ownership” of projects and think proactively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with supervision from senior attorney(s).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently, effectively and collaboratively under multiple, high-priority deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited PRC law school.
  • Admission to PRC Bar.

Nice to have

  • Experience in and knowledge of labor law, employment dispute resolution, intellectual property licensing, media/entertainment, retail and/or other FMCG sectors.
  • In-house experience at a multi-national company.
  • Master of Law degree from an accredited law school in other jurisdictions.
