This role is for an Audiovisual Design Engineer at OpenAI, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's conference room audio-visual and video conferencing infrastructure globally. The role involves setting AV standards, managing hardware and software, ensuring reliability and scalability, and integrating AV systems with core IT services. Experience with enterprise AV systems, networking, and IT support is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, own, and continuously improve global conference room AV and video conferencing standards, with a focus on reliability, consistency, scalability, and five 9s availability.
  2. Design and manage enterprise conference room standards, including room archetypes, approved hardware stacks, user experience requirements, control patterns, network requirements, and supportability expectations.
  3. Produce and maintain standard AV drawing packages, design templates, build documentation, and release/revision cycles for global deployment.
  4. Establish scalable systems and processes for managing the full AV technology lifecycle, including evaluation, standardization, deployment, support, refresh, and retirement.
  5. Define design requirements and technical patterns for AV monitoring, alerting, automation, and operational handoff so global room standards can be supported, measured, and improved at scale.
