The Automation Engineer role focuses on enabling data flow between various manufacturing and operations departments by leveraging IT and Process Automation Technologies. This includes supporting innovation, data historians (OSI PI), OT data integration, advanced analytics, data integrity, and process optimization. The role involves leading design, development, and deployment of technical solutions, providing frontline support for PI and LogMate users, managing system health checks, performing emergency response, and acting as a subject matter expert on the OSI PI Data Historian platform. Key responsibilities include data integration for manufacturing improvements, implementing technology governance, incident response, PI tag governance, patch/reboot coordination, change control, DeltaV integration support, service account management, vendor engagement, user support, training, documentation, and audit trail review.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements across an IT/Automation portfolio that are cost effective and sustainable
  2. Serve as the frontline support for all PI and LogMate end users (700+ users) with responsibility to create action plans and strategies to resolve performance issues
  3. Manage routine health checks on all PI infrastructure components, including PI Data Archive servers, PI AF servers, PI Vision servers/displays, PI Interfaces and PI Connectors, and LogMate servers and collectors. Make recommendations on how to maintain high performance levels on all systems
  4. Perform emergency response to system notifications (email and SMS), including configuration of alerting rules on mobile devices and respond to critical alerts after hours and weekends as needed. Make recommendations on process solutions.
  5. Provide subject matter expertise on OSI PI Data Historian platform for automation engineering
