Automotive Equipment Technician

This role involves performing maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles and special equipment within the Verizon fleet. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, conducting inspections (OSHA, ANSI, emissions, state), and utilizing fleet maintenance tracking systems. The role requires experience as a mechanic, a CDL license, and a NY State Safety Inspection License.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performing maintenance and repair of all types of motor vehicles and special equipment in the Verizon fleet.
  2. Diagnosing, maintaining and repairing all company associated equipment, including aerial lifts, diggers, generators, tools, etc.
  3. Using computer test equipment to diagnose vehicle problems.
  4. Interfacing with vehicle users regarding repairs, questions, etc.
  5. Performing OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state inspections on company vehicles.

Skills

Required

  • Mechanic experience
  • CDL License or Commercial Learner's Permit
  • NY State Safety Inspection License
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to meet safety-related requirements
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
  • Lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment up to 75 lbs

Nice to have

  • Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles
  • Current ASE Certifications

What the JD emphasized

  • 5 or more years’ experience as a mechanic or other relevant experience
  • CDL License or Commercial Learner's Permit (CDL required within 6 months of hire)
  • NY State Safety Inspection License (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company.
