Autonomy Engineer (mid Career) - Millennium Space Systems

Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA

Autonomy Engineer at Millennium Space Systems (Boeing) focused on on-board fault management and autonomy for satellites and constellations. Responsibilities include defining architecture, developing and validating fault detection, isolation, and response (FDIR), and ensuring mission success and spacecraft health. This role involves requirements definition, system design, testing, and potentially on-console mission operations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead fault and autonomy requirements definition, verification, and validation
  2. Define satellite/constellation states, modes, transitions, and other autonomous spacecraft behaviors
  3. Contribute to - and in some cases own - architecture concepts, CONOPS, and technology trade-off analyses
  4. Design and validate onboard fault detection, isolation, and responses and perform end-to-end validation of autonomy products and behaviors
  5. Support on-console operations for on-orbit missions

  • 5+ years experience in satellite design and/or operation
  • Familiarity with one or more satellite subsystems and/or system-level analysis
  • Experience in the design, development, and verification of spacecraft fault detection, isolation, and response (FDIR)
  • Experience in the design, development, and verification of spacecraft autonomy software/configuration
  • Familiarity with satellite testing and/or on-orbit mission operations
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • 9+ years experience in satellite design and/or operation
