Boeing is seeking an Avionics & AP&S Deputy Chief Engineer (K Level Manager) to lead a team responsible for avionics and airframe modifications. The role involves leading engineers, driving project execution, managing technical risks, ensuring certification and compliance, and improving processes. Requires a Bachelor's degree, leadership experience, and experience with FAA regulations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and develop an engineering team responsible for Avionics or AP&S Modifications execution, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability for technical delivery, schedule commitments, and quality outcomes.
  2. Provide people leadership and coaching by mentoring engineers, supporting career development, delivering feedback, and building team capability in technical execution, collaboration, and problem solving.
  3. Drive project execution in partnership with Program Management by helping establish integrated plans, resource strategies, schedules, and milestone commitments that support business objectives and customer needs.
  4. Oversee technical risk, issue, and opportunity management by ensuring risks are identified early, mitigation plans are sound, issues are resolved, and opportunities are captured across all relevant engineering disciplines.
  5. Guide resolution of complex cross-functional technical challenges by facilitating decision-making, leading or supporting Technical Design Reviews (TDRs), and engaging Subject Matter Experts as needed to resolve technical gaps.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
  • 3+ years of experience working within FAA (Or EASA) regulations.
  • Experience communicating complex technical risks, translating impact, and advising senior leaders.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time both domestically and Internationally.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience leading multi-disciplined, complex engineering projects and teams across multiple organizations.
  • Knowledge of Boeing's organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation.
  • Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment.
  • Experience presenting to executive level leadership.
