Northrop Grumman is seeking an Avionics Engineering Technician (Levels 2 or 3) to support the research, design, development, and testing of electronic equipment and avionics systems, specifically focusing on the Integrated Navigation Cockpit Display System (INCDS). Responsibilities include integration and testing of flight management computers and cockpit avionics, designing test cables, supporting hardware analysis, and creating test processes and procedures. Requires a Secret clearance and experience with avionics hardware, networking standards, electrical systems, and troubleshooting.

What you'd actually do

  1. The Integration and Test of Prime Mission Equipment (Flight Management Computers, Primary Flight Displays, Control Display Units, and Cockpit Avionics Equipment) into Laboratories and on Aircraft for Ground Support Testing.
  2. Design of Lab Bench Test cables and knowledge of Test Tools in support of Hardware bench testing.
  3. The support of Hardware analysis as it pertains to product maintainability, reliability, safety and diminishing material sources.
  4. The candidate will be capable of supporting the cognizant engineer in the creation of detailed equipment requirements in Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems specification documents format for product procurement
  5. The creation of hardware test processes and procedures using Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems test procedure document guidelines and templates

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 year’s additional education and/or related experience (Level 2)
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 year’s additional education and/or related experience (Level 3)
  • Demonstrated experience in the fundamentals of Flight Avionics hardware and associated elements
  • networking standards/protocols (e.g. 1553, Ethernet, RS-232, ARINC-429)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • DOD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain program access
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Experience working in a production, operational or test environment
  • Experience with electrical systems, wire and harness repair and fabrication
  • Skilled in wiring, cabling, and connector work for electronic subsystems
  • comfortable configuring and running Linux-based computers and data-acquisition (DAQ) hardware
  • basic network-setup knowledge
  • Able to connect, configure, and verify communication between hardware, software, and networking elements
  • demonstrated capability to diagnose and resolve issues across electronic, mechanical, and software domains

Nice to have

  • Some college in a STEM field or certificate in a tech related topic
  • Experience with Aircraft Navigation and Flight Plans
  • Experience with how a Flight Navigation solution / GPS is integrated into an Aircraft
  • Experience with integration of COTS electronics and Board Support Package (BSP) designs into military systems
  • Experience with military or commercial aircraft hardware/software
  • Knowledge of schematic diagrams and other engineering documentation
  • Electrical certification
  • 5+ years of integration and testing experience including planning, set-up, and test execution
  • Extensive electronics, computer, and mechanical system set up, integration, and checkout experience
  • Ability to assess anomalies and develop resolutions in conjunction with Engineering
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and development environments
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment
