Northrop Grumman is seeking an Avionics Integration Section Manager in Melbourne, FL. This dual-hat role involves functional leadership and hands-on technical execution for a team of 13-17 Avionic Engineers. Responsibilities include managing team performance, coordinating staffing, providing career development, and ensuring program goals are met. Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 years of experience. A Secret clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain current technical statement of work (SOW) on a program (80%), while leading and developing a team of approximately 13-17 engineers (20%).
  2. Assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected, and working with the respective IPT to address those needs.
  3. Support recruiting activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  4. Partnering with the program assignment managers and IPT leads in establishing personal program and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for team members.
  5. Providing their team members with career development recommendations, mentoring, professional development and coaching, employee rewards and recognition as necessary.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in engineering, OR a Master’s degree AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in engineering
  • Lead or management experience in a team environment
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in a STEM field
  • Knowledge of Functional Homeroom processes (e.g., Staffing, Processes, Metrics, Training)
  • Prior experience as a lead or manager of an engineering team (IPT Lead, Functional Manager, Small Group/Project/Program Lead etc..)
  • Experience leading a team of diverse individuals toward a common objective
  • Possess technical discipline credibility to provide “backstop” support to programs as required on behalf of team members
  • Experience solving staff and resource issues
  • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills
  • Top Secret Security
