The role involves maintaining aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications, including preparing surfaces, mixing and applying sealants and paints, and performing component-level testing. It requires obtaining and maintaining specific maintenance certifications and a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications.
  2. Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking, and other preparation tasks.
  3. Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices.
  4. Mixes and applies paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency.
  5. Applies additional surface details to manufacturer specifications.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Aircraft Low Observables experience (0 years for Level 1, 2 years for Level 2)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals
  • Willingness to work flexible and extended shifts
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical work
  • Pass physical/respiratory evaluation

Nice to have

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • Hands-on experience with building, modifying, or maintaining aircraft, automotive, or other machines/equipment using common hand tools
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
