This role is for an Aircraft Structures Mechanic at Northrop Grumman, supporting the B-2 modification team. Responsibilities include assembling major aircraft structures, performing fitting operations, measuring parts with precision tools, and translating blueprints into fabrications. A Secret clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Preforms a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers.
  2. Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
  3. Performs minor part-fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming.
  4. Measures parts with precision tools such as, micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  5. May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure.

Skills

Required

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work
  • Ability to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation
  • Willingness to work a flexible work schedule

Nice to have

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • Hands-on experience with building, modifying, or maintaining aircraft, automotive, or other machines/equipment using common hand tools.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Previous composite, manufacturing, or production experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
