Caterpillar Caterpillar · Industrial · Mossville, IL

Lead engineer for the End-of-Line (EOL) testing of Caterpillar's Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) battery products. This role involves project leadership for test processes, equipment, and capacity, creating test plans, analyzing results, ensuring traceability, and collaborating with various engineering teams and suppliers. The focus is on ensuring product quality and continuous improvement in test operations for batteries, power systems, and e-powertrain solutions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Project leadership of E+ES product’s production EOL test processes, test plans, equipment, capacity, and utilization both currently and strategically into the future.
  2. Create project plans for test activities, write work instructions to train the production workforce as necessary, outline instrumentation requirements for testing, conduct testing, analyze test results, communicate findings, and write technical summary reports.
  3. Ensure test processes include full traceability of test results for warranty/claims review, and tests conducted at the supply base are fed into and stored in Caterpillar’s systems for retention and review.
  4. Provide ideas for continuous improvement (CI) to the safety, quality, velocity, and cost of test operations, regularly improving testing cycle times as product confidence and testing methods matures.
  5. Partner with E+ES Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Validation Engineering, and Compliance teams to develop and implement robust PFMEAs, control plans, and production test plans.
