Behavioral Health Oncology Nurse

Thyme Care is a healthcare company that uses technology and AI to improve cancer care. They are looking for a Behavioral Health Oncology Nurse to support patients with complex behavioral health needs. This role involves clinical assessments, care coordination, and member education via telemedicine and telephonic platforms. The nurse will collaborate with a care team, including social workers and community health workers, to address behavioral health barriers and social determinants of health. Responsibilities include managing a queue, coordinating care, and participating in interdisciplinary collaboration. The role requires a BSN, RN license, and at least 5 years of nursing experience, with a preference for oncology experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide ongoing, longitudinal nursing support for members whose behavioral health concerns range from mild adjustment related coping support needs to more severe mental illness.
  2. Monitor member progress, provide regular updates, and establish targeted support plans with the healthcare team in case conferences.
  3. Build strong, trusting relationships with providers to optimize care and prevent readmissions for our members.
  4. Conducting telephonic assessments, including pain assessments and medication reconciliation.
  5. Partner with non-clinical Care Team members to support the member’s social determinants of health needs, such as food resources, transportation access, and support at home.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
  • multi-state, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) compact license
  • at least 5 years of nursing experience
  • 2 years in advanced clinical judgment and problem-solving skills in complex, non-linear behavioral health cases

Nice to have

  • Oncology nursing experience
  • Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
