This role operates manned support vessels and assists in the oversight of autonomous systems during field tests, contributing to the development and validation of advanced maritime technologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Operate and maintain company-owned support vessels during field trials and test events.
  2. Lead safe deployment, recovery, and towing operations of ASVs in various maritime environments.
  3. Collaborate closely with engineers, autonomy developers, and mission planners to execute test plans.
  4. Ensure all maritime operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including USCG standards.
  5. Participate in safety assessments and contribute to operational planning and risk mitigation.

Skills

Required

  • U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License (e.g., OUPV or Master 25/50/100 Ton)
  • 3+ years operating vessels in coastal or open-ocean environments
  • Maritime safety, navigation, and emergency procedures
  • Dynamic startup environment adaptability
  • Communication and leadership skills
  • Physical capability for boat operations in variable conditions

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting military or government maritime operations
  • Familiarity with autonomous or remotely operated marine vehicles
  • Background in marine electronics, navigation systems, or mechanical systems
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

What the JD emphasized
