Business Analyst – Automation, Analytics & AI

This role supports the identification, delivery, and sustainment of automation, analytics, and AI solutions within clinical trial operations at Merck. The Business Analyst will assist with business case preparation, data analysis, dashboard/report building, workflow documentation, solution testing, training, and user support, ensuring solutions are compliant and scalable. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in data analysis, process improvement, or technology-enabled projects, with exposure to automation platforms, analytics tools, or AI frameworks. Experience with BI tools and basic data wrangling is preferred, as is familiarity with clinical research operations in a regulated environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist in compiling business cases, gathering requirements, mapping processes, and documenting user stories and acceptance criteria.
  2. Build and maintain country dashboards and basic automations under supervision using approved platforms.
  3. Produce routine operational reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboards; maintain data definitions and refresh cadence.
  4. Ensure adherence to ICH GCP, Company policies, and local regulations in documentation and solution usage.
  5. Collaborate with country, regional and headquarters teams, such as, Sr BA, AA & AI Lead, and Global Clinical Data Integration /Information Technology partners; share learnings and templates with peers.
