This Business Analyst role focuses on supporting marketing decisions within Amazon's Other Hardlines category by analyzing large datasets, building reports, and leveraging AI tools to accelerate insights. The role requires strong SQL and Excel skills, with a preference for experience in scripting, data visualization, and cloud data tools. While the role utilizes AI tools, it does not involve building or shipping AI models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the marketing team in answering key questions using data — covering multiple metrics across the OHL portfolio
  2. Deep-dive into large datasets using SQL and Excel to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
  3. Build and maintain reports and dashboards that enable the team to self-serve on routine business metrics
  4. Translate business questions from stakeholders into structured analysis requirements and deliver clean, actionable outputs
  5. Monitor existing data pipelines and ETL workflows; flag issues and escalate with context

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years of data analytics or automation experience
  • 1+ years of capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar experience
  • Knowledge of data pipelining and extraction using SQL
  • Knowledge of SQL and Excel at a moderate or advanced level
  • Experience with data mining tools like SQL, SAS, SPSS, or similar
  • Experience defining and executing program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • Experience in written and spoken English and an ability to compose grammatically correct, concise and accurate written responses
  • Moderate-to-advanced proficiency in MS Excel

Nice to have

  • Experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets
  • Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred)
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of online retail (e-commerce)
  • Experience with AWS analytical services (Redshift, EMR) or equivalent cloud data tools
  • Hands-on experience using AI/ML tools or large language models to augment analytical workflows — prompt engineering, AI-assisted reporting, or automated insight generation is a plus
  • Curiosity and initiative in exploring new AI-powered tools to improve team productivity
