Business Development Leader

Visa is seeking a Business Development Leader in Japan to manage and expand relationships with global acquirers and payment service providers (PSPs). The role involves driving Visa's acquiring agenda, enabling and scaling the acquiring ecosystem, and identifying new use cases to unlock growth opportunities. This position requires a strong understanding of Visa's business strategy, deep technical acumen for client engagement, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into executable solutions.

What you'd actually do

  1. owning and expanding Visa’s relationships with global acquirers and payment service providers (PSPs), including but not limited to GMO-PG, DGFT, Adyen, and Worldpay, in Japan.
  2. enabling and accelerating Visa’s acquiring agenda through close partnership with global, regional and local ACQs and PSPs.
  3. driving the implementation of Visa initiatives and solutions on the acquiring side, aligning global product priorities with partner roadmaps, and ensuring successful technical and commercial enablement with clients.
  4. building and deepening a robust payment ecosystem by strengthening partnerships with global ACQs and PSPs, identifying new use cases, improving acceptance and performance, and unlocking growth opportunities across both core and emerging payment flows.
  5. translating strategic objectives into executable solutions, remove implementation blockers, and ensure seamless delivery of Visa capabilities at scale.

Skills

Required

  • Fluent in both spoken and written Japanese and English.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience from a top company, high growth firm, leading consulting firm or investment bank; experience in sales, business development, and account management
  • Demonstrated success in account planning, execution, and project delivery.
  • Possesses excellent presentation, communication, and networking skills.
  • Capable of developing strong connections at all levels with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to take initiative and adapt in a rapidly changing, often ambiguous market environment.
  • Exhibits commercial acumen by applying analysis to evaluate business opportunities, ensuring budget, profitability, and earnings targets are based on sound assumptions and effective business models.
  • Demonstrates a disciplined and organized approach to consistently and systematically address both immediate and long-term priorities.
  • Demonstrates eagerness and curiosity to learn, sell, and build a robust network both within and outside the firm.
  • Maintains high levels of professional humility, actively seeking and constructively using feedback.
