This role is for a Self-Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada. The primary responsibilities include providing customer service, assisting customers with self-checkout transactions, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the self-checkout area, and handling specific operational tasks like responding to EAS alarms and managing the 'Failure to Deactivate' Log. The role also involves promoting company programs and escalating technical issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Keeps the area neat, clean and organized and free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and liquids.
  2. Educates customers on the correct and efficient use of self-service options, when applicable.
  3. Promotes company sponsor programs, i.e., credit card service, product protection and charity initiatives, when applicable.
  4. Observing the activities of a customer to determine when and if assistance is needed.
  5. When self-service interventions and quality checks are required, politely explaining the reasons for the intervention or quality checks while positively reassuring customers that periodic quality checks and interventions are normal protocol when using self-serve checkout options.
