Case Advocate, Occupational (ph)

This role serves as an occupational case advocate, assisting cast members and leaders with temporary workplace accommodations related to occupational injuries. Responsibilities include reviewing restrictions, determining available accommodations, partnering with other teams, communicating outcomes, and maintaining case management system records. The role requires critical thinking, data analysis, strong communication, and conflict resolution skills, with preferred knowledge of relevant laws and workers' compensation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review temporary restrictions entered through Health Services, and connect with the cast member and area leadership to determine the appropriate accommodations that may be available through a timely, objective and thorough interactive conversation.
  2. If accommodations are not available in the area, partner with the Transitional Duty team to determine whether any Transitional Duty roles are available based on the restrictions that have been issued.
  3. Promote knowledge and understanding amongst leaders and employees regarding company policies, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  4. Communicate accommodation request outcomes to cast member and area leadership, ensure responses and full understanding from all parties.
  5. Partner and communicate with the Workers’ Compensation claims examiner to verify work status changes based on accommodations discussions, so that the claims examiner can determine what benefits may be due to the cast member.
  6. Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of accommodation interactive conversations with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents into the case management system.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 3-years of experience or in a professional role, with experience in human resources or equivalent preferred.
  • Critical thinker, with demonstrated experience translating strategic goals/concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level.
  • Ability to analyze data, trends, and insights to identify the root cause of the event and translate into actionable solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong consultative and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to build strong, inclusive, and collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands; prioritizing workload, managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws / regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, CA Labor Code, ADAAA and FMLA).
  • Workers’ compensation knowledge or background in disability management.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking/writing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, psychology, sociology, industrial labor relations or similar related field and/or equivalent work experience.
