This role is for a Data Center Technician within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as part of the Catalyst Program. The technician will perform operational and technical work including hardware installations, break/fix, cabling, inventory management, and troubleshooting of servers, storage, and networking equipment. The role requires technical aptitude, ability to follow procedures, and collaboration skills, with a focus on maintaining and supporting cloud infrastructure.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network equipment, and related infrastructure.
  2. Install, upgrade, replace, troubleshoot, and decommission server and network hardware.
  3. Perform break/fix activities across server, storage, and networking platforms.
  4. Install, label, test, validate, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
  5. Monitor and respond to assigned work through ServiceNow, JIRA, or equivalent systems.

Skills

Required

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical discipline; OR Four (4) years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; OR Two (2) years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.
  • Strong technical aptitude and desire to advance within data center operations.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to operational excellence.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Linux command-line experience.
  • Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
  • ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.
