This role is for a Critical Environment Program Manager (CEPM) responsible for the operational excellence of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure in Microsoft's datacenters. The role involves ensuring service continuity, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and efficiency. It requires experience in data center operations or similar critical environment settings and focuses on maintaining uptime and reliability of critical systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance oversight.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within a data center environment, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance programs
  2. Ensure uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance oversight, and risk mitigation
  3. Lead operational excellence by executing and governing processes such as maintenance procedures, incident reviews (RCAs), and change management
  4. Drive safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to Microsoft standards and immediately addressing risks or incidents
  5. Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams, vendors, and landlord partners to optimize datacenter performance and resolve issues

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services
  • Experience working on large scale industrial projects OR industry experience in a datacenter
  • Proficiency in written, reading, and conversational English
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice to have

  • Experience in data center operations or other critical environment settings
  • Experience supporting mission-critical services and high-availability infrastructure
  • Experience across industries including data centers, manufacturing, oil and gas, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or similar critical infrastructure sectors
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience
