This role is for a Chief Engineer Level 5 at Northrop Grumman, focused on program execution and leading cross-functional engineering teams for Space Payload and Ground Systems. Responsibilities include proposal development, managing project budgets and schedules using EVMS, and interfacing with various departments and customers. The role requires a strong engineering background, leadership experience, and a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
  2. Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
  3. Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
  4. Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
  5. Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or STEM-related discipline with 12 years of experience, or 10 years with a Master's Degree and 7 years of experience with a Ph.D.

  • Must have an active SECRET clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret with a SCI

Nice to have

  • Experience as Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects
  • Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Basic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, and Test process
  • Problem-solving experience in a team environment
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Active TS/SCI with counterintelligence polygraph
