China Supply Chain Director, Surgery

The Director of Supply Chain for Johnson & Johnson's China Surgery division is responsible for aligning the unit's supply chain strategy with regional and global objectives. This role manages the China Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensures customer expectations are met, and optimizes supply chain performance. The Director acts as the primary liaison with China's commercial partners to achieve business goals, focusing on improving supply chain agility, ensuring reliable product delivery, and supporting strategic business plans through effective supply chain and franchise alignment. Key responsibilities include driving cross-functional collaboration, monitoring performance metrics, leading demand planning, and partnering with various departments for continuous improvement in New Product Implementation (NPI) and overall supply chain capabilities. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in a complex supply chain environment, with leadership experience in manufacturing, planning, or distribution, preferably within the healthcare sector.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage China S&OP, consistently meet customer expectations and optimize supply chain performance.
  2. Drive cross-functional collaboration to understand customer needs and translate external customer requirements into supply chain strategies.
  3. Monitor Supply Chain Performance Goals (i.e. quality, OTiF, inventory, MAPE/Bias), ensures initiation of corrective action and improvement projects as required.
  4. Drive demand planning excellence and champion China S&OP process and meetings – drive balancing demand vs. supply decisions and coordinate resolution of major supply chain issues for respective franchise.
  5. Partner with China Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, Deliver and region/global Supply Chain for continuous improvement of New Product Implementation (NPI) capability.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a complex Supply Chain environment
  • Proven leadership track record in at least 2 of the following functional areas within an international organization: manufacturing, planning, distribution, quality
  • Demonstrated depth of product knowledge and insights of customers and healthcare industry
  • Ability to lead with limited authority and provide direction and drive positive change, with end-to-end and enterprise mindset
  • Ability to drive innovation, prioritize and collaborate in a heavily matrixed environment
  • Effective interdependent and proactive partnering with key stakeholders of China Commercial, E2E Supply Chain functions, and MD Supply Chain Organization on a regional and global basis
  • Ability to coach and develop talents, and elevate organizational capabilities
  • Ability to deliver on Business unit performance metrics and shared goals in alignment with MD Supply Chain Performance Metrics

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare / regulatory dependent sector is desirable
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in large scale projects/programs will be advantageous
