Northrop Grumman is seeking a Deputy Sr Principal Chief Engineer for their CHORD portfolio, which involves Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Cross Domain Solutions (CDS). The role supports the Chief Engineer in technical execution, roadmap maintenance, and directing technical teams across software, cyber, systems, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include technical planning, software integration, verification, validation, proposal support, and leading teams through the full SDLC. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 8 years of experience, and an active DoD Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. supporting the CHORD Chief engineer as a deputy, supporting the technical execution of programs across all disciplines.
  2. help establish and maintain technical roadmap(s), direct the technical teams across all disciplines including software, cyber, systems, infrastructure, and test.
  3. perform technical planning, software integration, verification and validation, support and lead Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation efforts, and help lead proposal efforts for new business.
  4. experience leading teams throughout the full software development life cycle (SDLC), Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead experience, and BOE experience.
  5. Experience generating test procedures and test plans.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8 years of related technical experience; Master’s degree in a STEM field and 6 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field and 4 years of related technical experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Experience as a lead or developer in the full software development life cycle.
  • Experience supporting proposal development including reviews and basis of estimates (BOEs) creation.
  • Experience creating milestones and managing scope of work for a software-centric technical team.
  • Experience supporting generation of an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  • Experience presenting technical topics to customers and program management.
  • Experience coordinating directly with customers and end users for requirements development and detailed design.
  • Communication and leadership skills and experience leading small teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with technical reviews for large scale and complex system development.
  • Experience with requirement derivation and verification.
  • Experience generating test procedures and test plans.
  • Experience leading and coordinating efforts across systems engineering, software engineering, cyber engineering, logistics and fielding, and integration and test throughout the entire development lifecycle for a large and complex software system.
  • Experience working on Agile programs and methodology.
  • Proactive in engaging all engineering discplines to maintain program awareness.
  • Ability to be forward looking to identify potential issues.
  • Basic understanding of Cyber security and awareness of Cross Domain Solutions.
  • Understanding of software generation, integration, selloff, and deployment into fully integrated systems.
