This role involves reviewing and analyzing environmental reports for real estate lending to identify environmental conditions impacting secured real estate. The Senior Associate will provide technical opinions, assist business lines with environmental due diligence risks, and interface with internal and external consultants. Responsibilities include conducting collateral-asset analysis, managing requests for proposals from environmental consultants, performing independent research, and handling complex environmental reports for contaminated properties. The role also involves project management, leadership, and advising on operational environments, efficiency enhancements, and risk management techniques. A key aspect is understanding and applying regulatory guidelines applicable to banks concerning environmental issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review environmental records/reports related to commercial real estate secured loan transactions. Prepare review memoranda. Procure environmental reports from qualified consultants when required in connection with ERM guidelines and procedures.
  2. Conduct collateral-asset analysis on real estate lending, management, and REO acquisition/ disposition processes. Serves as a link between Bank personnel and the data provided in environmental reports. Provides timely review, analyses, and recommendations.
  3. Coordinate and monitor and/or manage requests for proposals, project scope definition, job award, and work-product review of environmental consultants.
  4. Perform independent research of available resources to supplement environmental information in connection with real estate collateral.
  5. Perform special projects as assigned including analysis of environmental exposures in connection with bank acquisitions and audit responses. Assist in qualifying environmental firms to perform work for the Bank.
