Claims Data Analytics Engineer

GEICO is seeking a Claims Data Analytics Engineer to join their Claims Innovation team. This role involves diagnosing business challenges, recommending solutions, and building scalable data for advanced analysis. Responsibilities include developing Python-based data processing workflows, engineering data models in Snowflake, writing SQL, designing Power BI dashboards, and ensuring data integrity. The role requires expert-level SQL, hands-on Snowflake experience, Python proficiency, and Power BI experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build, maintain, and optimize Python-based data processing workflows, including ETL/ELT pipelines, automation scripts, and analytical models.
  2. Engineer and optimize data models, views, and warehouse structures in Snowflake to support analytical performance and data governance.
  3. Write advanced, efficient SQL to transform Claims data and implement reusable data patterns.
  4. Design and develop Power BI dashboards, metrics layers, and semantic models to support reporting and business insights.
  5. Apply deep data structure knowledge and strong analytical thinking to translate complex Claims data and customer‑driven requirements into clear, actionable analytics and production‑ready solutions

Skills

Required

  • Expert-level SQL
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake
  • Proficiency in Python for ETL/automation, data transformation, and analytics workflows
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills
  • Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of ATLAS and other enterprise claims data repositories
  • Experience in P&C/Auto insurance, particularly Operations/Claims
  • Background in building scalable distributed systems or data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance and metadata management frameworks.
  • Exposure of machine learning or predictive modeling techniques.
  • Strong communication skills
